The drive to digitise at HMRC

In the next few years we will be seeing some big changes in the way that HMRC delivers its services. There is a drive to put many more services online and to be more open about the process for doing that. Last year HMRC ‘poached’ Mark Dearnley from Vodafone to head up IT.

Mark is already making some big changes. Over the next three years, HMRC will be doubling their number of software developers from 300 to 600. At the same time he is encouraging more openness around the process. An example of this can be seen in the blogs now been posted by HMRC developers, which are becoming the latest way for HMRC to communicate with us. https://hmrctransition.blog.gov.uk/
