All you need to know

All you need to know - group

Starting from one man, working out of a back room, the firm now numbers almost 50 partners and staff. We continue to provide the same level of service and attention to detail to our clients, whether individuals, businesses, schools or charities, now as we did back then.

There is though, only one simple fact that you need to know about us. Everything we do is done with the purpose of enriching your life as a client, whether it is through the provision of sound business and tax advice, the efficient preparation of annual accounts, tax returns and operation of payrolls, the implementation of accounting software or the undertaking of statutory audits. Our fees are based on the value we provide to you. We do not charge for telephone calls or routine meetings or even the occasional lunch, those conversations and meetings are for us, part of the joy of being in business.

Please pick up the phone to speak to any of our partners, or better still, come and have a coffee and tell us about your business or organisation; your tax concerns, or any other business matter that is on your mind.

The People

Where we work

Baxter & Co Where We WorkAll our partners and staff work from Lynwood House, on the Crofton Road, right next to Orpington Station. With fast trains to and from London every fifteen minutes (during off peak periods), it takes only 17 minutes to London Bridge and 25 minutes to Charing Cross.

If you are passing, please do come in for a coffee and a chat. If you are coming by car, we have ample parking for visitors, clients and staff.

Lynwood House was originally built in 1926 by the Bromley Rural District Council. It stands on a site of considerable historic significance, with evidence of habitation going back over 4,000 years.

A Roman villa was built on the site in about A.D. 80 and continued to be occupied until the departure of the Romans in 410 AD. Remains of the villa can be seen in the Crofton Roman Villa museum right next to our offices.

What others are saying

At the beginning of this year we needed assistance with reporting our year-end tax numbers as a result of staff sickness. Baxter & Co stepped in at very short notice to assist with preparing the UK tax numbers and putting together the consolidated global tax figures for inclusion in our financial statements. With significant operations in the USA, South-East Asia and India as well as a number of other territories we needed a firm with international tax experience who were able to deal with a complex consolidation. Baxter & Co more than met the challenge, quickly establishing a good working relationship with our finance team, our overseas tax advisors and our auditors, they were responsive to our needs, efficiently processing late adjustments to ensure that the reporting timetable for the group was met.

CFO, AIM listed international group

I had been happily completing online tax returns for several years but when I semi-retired and was left a legacy in the same tax year, I needed to take advice on how to handle my tax return that year. I felt completely confident that I had made the right choice of adviser when I met John Galvin, the tax manager at Baxter & Co: he grasped the situation very quickly and was able to explain my position in clear, uncomplicated terms. I had brought with me to our meeting a good deal of supporting papers and he made quick work of sorting them all out into sensible order. John spotted that I hadn’t completed my online tax returns correctly for three or four years and as a result I was due money from HMRC, and that was an additional bonus.
